Every song contains multiple verses. Each of those individual verses has its own set of lyrics. As listeners we can expect that each new verse will bring new description, dialogue, action, or commentary to the song’s development. It will reveal something about the characters and their situation, or it will follow a strand of thought.
The vocal melody and rhyme scheme typically remain consistent from verse to verse.
