If You’re Not Messing Up—Often and Well—Something’s Wrong

“If you don’t have failures and nervousness and sloppiness and mistakes, you’re not taking enough risks or stretching as much as you could be.”

–Ruth Greenwood

The above comment Ruth left on The Scaredy-Cat’s Guide to Writing and Performing resonated with me—I’m not messing up enough. I’m not nervous enough because I’m not putting enough on the line. I’ve made a few small victories, but too often I stop stretching when it starts to burn.

Are you screwing up often enough to grow and learn?
