On Writing Lyrics: Make it Quick

Many of us are writing short, two to five minute songs. That means we have maybe three verses and a chorus in which to tell the whole story, to express the big idea.

Length does not equal depth. The calling of a songwriter is to evoke emotionally compelling situations, images, and characters with just a few words.
